Giving thanks on Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is exciting to everyone. I’m an international student which is I cannot spend time with my family. So I will go to the Boston for study. I feel sad but I hope I could shop at the Boston! And I cam meet my youngest sister. Now on, I will talk about five things that I feel grateful.

First, I’m thankful that I met a great host mom in Boston. When I first came to the America, I was worried about everything; language, host family and school. But I didn't worry about my host family after I met them. They were so nice to me. My host mom name is Diana. Diana has two boys. She was the only women in the house so she was really happy that she has a daughter which is me :) Every weekend, we have gone to the grocery shop together. She was being like friend.

Second, I'm thankful that I have three sisters. I have two older sisters and one younger sister. I'm third one like Mrs. Berzinskas:) Sometimes, we have fought a lot but we know that we love and care each other.

Third, I'm thankful that I'm a Webb student. In America, They have lost of boarding school. But I chose the Webb School beside thousand of boarding school. This is destiny :)

Fourth, I'm thankful that I have wonderful friends. Friends are powerful to everyone. I have friends in America, Korea, Canada, and France. Where we from is not important. Friends are just friend. Every time, when I have a hard time, they are always with me. I love my friends <3

Lastly, I want to thank to my wonderful mom. I'm thankful that I born by my mom. She is the best mom, friend, and person in my life. I can’t think my life without her. She always is like my best friend. I love her a lot.

National Goal Setting Day

November 4th is National Goal Setting Day. Write three goals that you would like to accomplish by the time this school year ends. Why did you choose these goals, and why are they important?

Every year, every day, I think about what I should do for my life. Since when I start to study in American, I make lots of rule for me. Also, every quarter, I make a goal for my grade. And today I will talk about three goals that I would like to accomplish by the time this school year ends.

First, I want to make A⁺ grade for my College Algebra & Trigonometry class. I’m an Asian but I’m not a math person at all like what everyone said. When I have a quiz or test for CAT class, I always afraid of this. This second quarter, I’m going to study hard and I want to get A for my test!

Second, I want to read my book where I bought in Korea. I usually like the book about someone’s life, psychology, and dream. I bought lots of book at the book store. But I don’t have time to read the books because I have lots of school work to do. So I hope that I read all of books before the school year ends.

Lastly, I want to go to bad before 12PM. Every day, I have so much work to do. So I always sleep after 12PM. And it makes me tired so badly.

I hope that I can get through these three goals before the school year ends.

How the Jack-o-Lantern Got Its Smile :)

Once upon a time, there was a village called “happy world.” Everyone ware happy also they had a family. But only one person lived alone. Her name is Chloe. She always stays in her house but she was the person who loves children’s. By the way, pumpkins called Jack-o-Lantern at that village. But, kids were not like pumpkin. Because they thought pumpkins look really ugly. Chloe heard about those kids doesn't like pumpkin because that looks ugly. So, she thought how children’s would like pumpkins. She was thinking about that all night long. Then, she thought “how about if I make pumpkins with smiley face?” so, she cut the pumpkins like smiley face. When she showed to kids, they loved the pumpkins! But she felt she needs something more creatively. So, she putted the lights into the pumpkins. Everyone start to use the pumpkins for lights at night. The day that Chloe made the pumpkin light was October, 31. Then, she made that day as a Halloween day! Also, Children have got lots of candy in the pumpkin at Halloween!

Time Capsule

On September 23, 1938, a seven-foot time capsule was buried on the grounds of the World’s Fair in New York City.  A number of everyday items were placed in the capsule with the directions to be opened in five thousand years.  If your teacher asked you to create a time capsule today, what items would you place in the capsule and why? 

If my teacher told me to put something in my time capsule, I would put my phone, letter and photos.

First, I would put photos are my memory of my life. When I open my time capsule, I will think of my family and friends. I can see what did I do and where I was through the picture.

Second, I would put my cell phone. Every year, cell phones are getting amazing.

So, I want to compare and see what cell phone looks like.

Lastly, I would put letters in my time capsule. I have lots of letter from my friends. Especially, when I come to the America, lots of friend and family wrote a letter for me. I always keep that letters inside of a drawer, so I can see when I miss them.

I can’t imagine the time that I see my cell phone, photos and letters in my future. 

Ice cream

September is Ice Cream Month. Did you know that the average American eats 15 quarts of ice cream a year? If you could invent a flavor of ice cream or an ice-cream dessert, what would it be?

I didn't know that American eats 15 quarts of ice cream a year. That’s really a lot. But, I love ice cream, too. So, I will recommend the ice cream flavor and dessert as a ice cream lover.

If I would invent a flavor of ice cream, I would recommend dark chocolate brownie and Strawberry for flavor. It sounds cannot good. But, if you taste this, then you will know it’s a fantastic.

Also, I will make a dessert with frozen banana, melted chocolate and marshmallow. I will put melted chocolate and marshmallow on the frozen banana. When the frozen banana and hot melted chocolate and marshmallow would be combining, the taste will be amazing.

I did not try this recipe, but I will try this soon!!!!

Labor Day

If I would have a job, I want to try three things for me.

First, I want to do part time job for a restaurant. Because I never did this and I heard that is really hard specially, a restaurant. But, most of my friends did this and I just want to do part time job for an experience like a day.

Second, I want to do baby-sitter. I like a baby. But I don’t like when babies are crying. But I want to try a baby-sitter. My friend told me that this is not an easy job but this will be a good job for a day.

Lastly, I want to do manager for hotel. Because, I want to study the hotel management program for my major. And I want to be an owner of hotel also; I will make a hotel later. So, I think it will be good experience for my future.

What about ME?

Hi, my name is Jiwon Lee.

I believe that everyone are afraid of something, loves something, and has lost something.

I love to listing the music, movie, internet, family, friends, coffee, chocolate, and sleep. These are my favorite things in my life.

I am afraid of death, bug, ghost, and homework. Firstly, I just don’t like ghost like what other people don’t like. Second, Death makes everyone sad. This is why I do not like death. Thirdly, I hate bug seriously. Many people explain what bugs do for us and I understand. They do lots of thing for us. But, I just don’t like when I saw them. Last one is homework. End of class, when teacher tells us about homework I feel so afraid and stress.

I lost my friend when I was fourteen years old. My classmates died at. He was a handicapped person. He was running around the sports field then, he just collapsed. The night of that day, I heard he just died. I felt so sad and sorry to him. This is my story of what I have lost.
